Labour Minister says Nigeria will participate in International Congress on Public Policies for Employment and Social Protection

The Mexican Government has invited the Nigerian Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu to showcase Nigeria's policies in the labour sector at the forth-coming 'International Congress on Public Policies for Employment and Social Protection' slated for November 2013 in Mexico City in recognition of the Nigerian Government's efforts at reducing unemployment in the country.   This was disclosed by the Ambassador of Mexico to Nigeria, Antonio Garcia while presenting the letter of invitation to the congress to the Minister of Labour and Productivity in his office.   Antonio Garcia said that countries can learn by sharing experiences so as to enable them face daunting challenges. He stated that other participants will learn from Nigeria just as the participation of Nigeria at the International Congress will be a valuable contribution to the conclusions of the event and a gesture very much appreciated.   Speaking further, he congratulated the Minister on the achievements recorded under his leadership and affirmed his country's willingness to work with the Ministry to further strengthen bilateral relationships between the two countries.   In his response, Emeka Wogu noted that the congress will afford Nigeria the opportunity to showcase her policies and programmes on job creation, skills development, child labour and productivity measurement as well as standards. He added that the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is centered on job creation, workers' welfare enhancement and social security.   "Nigeria has taken giant strides at tackling the issues of unemployment and we have recorded tremendous successes which we are willing to share with other participating countries," the Minister averred.
