Enugu PDP leaders pass vote of confidence in Jonathan, Tukur, Chime

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan, National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamangar Tukur and Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu state, saying they were satisfied with the way they had been piloting the affairs of the party and the people at both national and state levels.

The PDP leaders comprising members of the National Assembly from Enugu State, members of  the House of Assembly,  members of the state executive, officers of the zonal and national executives and the 17 local government chairmen in the state passed the vote at Udi, during the grand finale of the party's campaign tour of the local governments in the state ahead of the the November 2 local government elections.

They  said no other PDP existed in the country other than the one led by President Jonathan with Tukur as national chairman and Governor Chime as leader as well as Mr. Vita Abba as chairman respectively in Enugu State.

Moving the motion for the vote of confidence before a large crowd of party faithful, the Chairman, Works Committee of the House of Representatives and member representing Udi/Ezeagu Constituency, Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi, said anyone working outside the current structure was fooling himself and was bound to fail.

He stated that Chime had ensured the absence of opposition in the state by the quality leadership he had given the people  and the peace and tranquility that had been restored to the political arena in the state.

In his speech, Governor Chime thanked the people for their continued support of the party, saying the dominance of the party in the state was evidenced by the fact that all the chairmanship candidates of the party for the November elections were running unopposed.

He said the party had won the confidence and trust of the people because it always endeavoured to  listen to and act upon the wishes of the people starting from the nomination of candidates for elections  to the performance of elected officials in their various offices.
