Job Title: Sales/Business Development Executive  

Employer: Happenings Magazine – Nigeria

Job description: Builds a market position for Happenings by locating, developing, negotiating, and closing business relationships.

Main Duties:

•   Prospect for potential new adverts and turn this into increased business

•   Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.

•   Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities.

•   Plan approaches and pitches

•   Build relationships with new clients

•   Present new ideas and enhance existing relationships

•   Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements

•   Identify opportunities for campaigns, products and channels that will lead to an increase in ad sales

Job Purpose:

•   The Sales/Business Development Executive is responsible for leading the growth of advert sales and developing new business sales opportunities.

•   The Sales/Business Development Executive will work alone seeking business opportunities for the Happenings platform with the support of the Editor & Creative Director to maximise all sales opportunities, proactively create new opportunities and achieve sales targets.

•   A strong focus will be on developing and managing relationships with industry partners and working with them on business growth opportunities beneficial to all parties.

•   This position will play a key role in the development and implementation of our business development plan and providing input into strategic business growth and improvement decisions.

Qualification & experience:

•   Experience as a Business Development Manager in the media/online/entertainment industry

•   Experience utilising the internet as a sales vehicle

•   Experience using Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel

•   High level contract negotiation experience

•   Marketing and product development experience

•   Minimum of degree in Business management/administration, marketing or related discipline
