NGGTour: FG commences work on Lokoja-Benin dual carriageway

The sum of N11.66billion is to be spent by the Federal Government for the construction of the Lokoja-Benin dual carriageway.

Federal Controller of Works, Kogi State, Engr. Osuyi Aigbe made this known while briefing members of the National Good Governance Tour during an inspection of a section of the road.

He told the Team that the job is being handled by CGC Ltd. and has a timeline of 36 months for completion.

Aigbe said the company has commenced work on about 15kilometers of the road which has a total length of 200kilometers. He said when completed, the road would ease the bottle neck experienced on the Lokoja-Benin express.

He stated that 28 percent of the job has been achieved saying work has been on for about 7 months.

In his remarks, the representative of the Minister of Information, Mr. Kingsley Osadolor (Special Assistant to the Minister on Media) recalled that the team stopped over at a section of the road (Abaji-Lokoja) on the way to the State.

He pointed out that the objective of the project is to fully dualize the Abuja-Lokoja-Benin expressway.

Osadolor also noted that the Federal Government is fully utilizing funds provided through the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) to develop road networks in the country.
