Applications are invited for 12 PhD scholarships out of which 6 scholarships for University of Milan, 3 for University of Brescia and 3 for University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro are awarded. Scholarships are awarded to the applicants with a total personal yearly income of less than € 15,000.00. A scholarship is of yearly duration and can be renewed if the PhD student has completed the program of activities of the previous year with a positive evaluation. Eligibility: In order to apply for a place on the above-mentioned PhD program, students must possess a "magistrale" degree (second-level degree), an equivalent qualification, or an equivalent degree (Master's Degree) from a foreign university. The suitability of the foreign academic qualifications in terms of content will be appraised by the Faculty Committee specially constituted for admission to the PhD course in compliance with the regulation in force in Italy and in the country where the academic title had been issued, and the international treaties and agreements pertaining to the recognition of titles in order to continue one's studies.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: EU and non-EU citizens are eligible for this International PhD scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The PhD course in Economic Sociology and Labor Studies aims to train highly skilled doctors with competence in various disciplines, which is fundamental for the study and regulation of economic and labor phenomenon. Training is strongly inter-disciplinary and the key role of economic sociology is integrated with studies on labor rights, economic-statistical and organizational-business disciplines, and of science of behavior. This inter and multi-disciplinary competence is necessary in order to create an innovative way to tackle the role of social and institutional factors in the analysis and regulation of economic phenomena and of work in a complex and changing society. In addition to theoretical knowledge about the subjects of the PhD, training aims to supply strong methodological and empirical research competence, both of a quantitative and qualitative nature, in line with recent progress in social and economic international science, including non-standard techniques of sociological analysis such as experiments and computer simulations (agent-based modeling). The PhD course will be in English.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships have a yearly duration and can be renewed if the doctoral candidate has completed the program of activities of the previous year with a positive evaluation.

What does it cover? Scholarships for this call for applications are intended, without any limitations related to citizenship, to the applicants with a total personal yearly income of less than € 15,000.00. Scholarships are granted, in compliance with the laws in force, following the rankings order and consist of a yearly gross amount of € 13,638.47.
