Job Title: Commercial Manager, Claims

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Employer: Systech International

Responsibilities:

•   Procurement administration experience, including draft, review and finalise pre-qualification, tender and contract documentation for consultant and contractor contracts and delivery tracking

•   Cost planning and analysis of financial tender submissions, including identifying pricing strategies and risk and recommending suitable mitigation measures

•   Evaluate tender submissions and prepare award recommendation reports

•   Preparation of monthly reports and weekly updates Post-Contract:

•   Preparation of monthly cost/progress reports

•   Monitoring of project cash flow

•   Preparation of interim recommendations for payment including checking site progress, materials on/off site, etc

•   Evaluation of variations/claims and change control management

•   Procurement of Provisional Sum/PC Rate Items

•   Negotiation with contractors/agreement of additional costs

•   Final Account negotiation and agreement Requirements:

•   UK Qualified (OR EQUIVALENT) – to minimum BSc Degree level, but preferably MRICS & FCIArb.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Key Strengths:

•   Experience of working Overseas with Major Contractors on Heavy Engineering projects is essential

•   Previous experience of working in Africa would be an advantage

•   Communicates effectively at all levels of a project organisation

•   Communicates effectively and precisely about contract, commercial and project management issues with multi-national project team members in a one-teaming way in an international environment.

•   Ability to develop and implement commercial and contractual procedures and document control systems.

•   Breadth of knowledge of FIDIC-based construction contracts, various other standard forms of contract and bespoke contracts.

•   Experienced evaluator of contractual risks, identification and management.

•   Structured, disciplined and pragmatic.

•   Enthusiastic promoter of staff development through hands-on support, advice and training.

•   A proactive seeker of solutions and positive ways forward to avoid claims and disputes.

•   The above position is being offered initialy on a 6 MONTH FIXED TERM basis with 12 weeks on 2 week off rotation
