It was a very emotional moment for Nikki Laoye at this year's edition of The Headies; the singer cried on stage as she walked up to receive her award for 'Best Vocal Performance (Female)'.
.
Laoye won the award for the fantastic performance of her single 'Only you' which she wrote as a tribute to her late father.
.
'It was a very painful and sad moment for me when I lost my father two years ago. I stopped singing for two years', Laoye said as she shed tears on stage. 'But I thank God and my lovely husband', she added right after singing a powerful medley.
.
Laoye beat the likes of Waje, Niyola, Seyi Shay and Zaina to clinch the award.

Even after stopping for 2 years it still did not encourage her to quit singing permenently. She is indeed a music star!

The award should be what will make her return to music a complete move. Her story is inspiring.

Death can make us do what we don't want to do sometimes. Rest in peace to her dad. Too bad.

Music is deep and it was worth the break she took. But she has to just do her best now to be at the top of her game.
