Girl Hub is a strategic collaboration between DFID and the Nike Foundation. We currently operate in Rwanda, Nigeria and Ethiopia with headquarters in London.

Girl Hub's ambition is to empower the 250 million adolescent girls living in poverty to reach their full potential. Girls are a proven force for change and the catalyst to end global poverty – we call this the Girl Effect.

We want girls to be able to complete secondary school, be healthy and free of violence, be able to earn and save for the future, and only marry and have children when they are ready. Our work aims to shift the social norms that hold girls back, and drive better investments that directly benefit girls. Everything we do is based on what girls tell us they need and what will work for them.

They seek a Country Director for Nigeria to lead the delivery and demand for Girl Hub services of the girl effect at scale and in country. They are looking for a dynamic individual to act as 'Chief Catalyst' that generates investment and support from local partners by demonstrating that 'doing more for girls better' can change society.

Job Purpose:

To create and sustain a demand for Girl Hub services in Nigeria to deliver the girl effect at scale and in country.

To be the catalyst that generates investment and support from local partners by demonstrating the 'doing more for girls better' can change society.

Main Responsibilities The Country Director will:

•   Act as 'Chief Catalyst' and connector to ensure girls are fully integrated into local strategy and programmes

•   Be the Ambassador for Girl Hub and the positive impact of the girl effect on both local girls and their environment and society

•   Galvanise aligned partners and consultants to action to achieve the girl effect in country

•   Communicate with all local government and industry bodies to drive interest, action and investment for the girl effect through local country infrastructure

•   Work with all Girl Hub Directors and Implementation Consultants as required to ensure communication consistency and collaborative delivery of all relevant programmes

•   Proactively seek out new opportunities to integrate adolescent girls across local policies and programs – advise Girl Hub team as required

•   Lead the team of in country consultants to work proactively together to deliver local objectives

•   Manage, in conjunction with the functional directors, the performance and development of this team, reporting back to Girl Hub directors as relevant

•   Enable the team to think beyond policy and programmes alone, encouraging innovation

•   Work alongside all Girl Hub peers to ensure a culture of girl's voices and insight is brought to every process

•   Ensure, through listening and interpretation, that all local girl insights are considered and communicated back to Girl Hub to ensure ongoing programme relevance

•   Work constructively with change, adapting plans and informing team/key partners as required

•   Act as an adviser to Girl Hub U where invited

•   Play an active role in building local country knowledge and work collaboratively with the Communications team to create compelling content for girlhub.org

Person Specification: The post-holder will need to demonstrate evidence of strong skills and/or performance in most or all of the following:

Previous Experience:

•   At least ten years' experience in developing and managing projects in a multi-cultural environment, preferably at international level

•   Ideally experience in both the private sector and international development

•   Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure is critical

•   Experience building and leading teams in a start up environment

•   Experience working in Nigeria is highly desirable
