About the Programme:

•   As the world becomes smarter and more intelligent, it has become imperative to empower its inhabitants with requisite knowledge and skills for dynamic optimization of available resources. The advent of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has facilitated growth and development in every sphere of human endeavor. Today, no profession can thrive without ICT and it is a statement of fact that ICT rules the world.

•   Jewel Development Foundation is organizing a Graduate Assistance Programme in Gombe whereby unemployed graduates who are indigenes of Gombe State would be given the opportunity to participate in intensive training on computer basics, communication skills, use of English, network administration, office productivity tools, database administration, document management, typing skills, project management, introduction to internet and problem solving skills.

•   Participants would undergo training for one month where they would be equipped with technical skills and business skills in ICT and entrepreneurship. This would be followed by a three-month internship with hands-on experience and on-the-job training so that participants could acquire world class professional certifications in ICT, workplace-ready skills set, appropriate work attitudes and entrepreneurial skills.

Goals:

•   Most graduates possess theoretical knowledge from institutions of learning but lack technical know-how on how to adequately fit into the society.

•   The Graduate Assistance Programme provides ample opportunity for unemployed graduates of Gombe State to become versatile, employable and self-employed.

•   It would create a pool of ICT professionals that would be relevant to economic growth of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

Eligibility:

All interested candidates MUST satisfy the following requirements:

1.   Indigene of Gombe State

2.   Currently unemployed

3.   Minimum of BSc or HND from a reputable university or polytechnic

4.   Completed the National Youths Service Scheme
