Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Our client is a multi-purpose law firm which has set out to provide international standard of legal services to its local and international clients. The firm was nominated as the best law firm handling Insolvency and Recovery in the Nigeria. They now require a Business Development Manager to work closely with the principal partner. This role is based in Lagos, Nigeria

Key Responsibilities:

•   Reporting directly to the Principal Partner, this role requires a self-starter who possesses a client focused mentality and is highly service oriented.

•   The successful candidate will be focused on shaping the strategic positioning for practice areas within the context of the company’s brand

•   Develop and support an integrated business development plan for the practices areas and the partners of the firm.

•   Facilitate cross-selling opportunities with other practice areas; lead generation; and identifying effective “thought leadership” opportunities for the partners and senior associates.

•   Initiate and support client relationship building activities and other activity that will help the firm to institutionalize its client base and grow top line revenue.

•   Provide input to, and support, firm wide efforts around key client initiatives, working closely with the partners and senior associates.

•   Oversee research and related competitive intelligence activity for key clients and prospects.

•   Monitor the business development strategies and related activity of key competitors.

•   Identify and prioritize key organizations and events in which the practice/partner will participate.

•   Develop and manage budgets for practice-related marketing memberships, sponsorships and hosted events.

•   Work with the partners to implement public relations strategies that further the company’s goal for positive media exposure and visibility.

Key Requirements:    

•   Minimum 5 years’ experience in practice management, business development or marketing role, ideally with a professional services firm

•   Strong writing and editorial skills, with particular attention to detail.

•   Strong project management and process implementation skills.

•   Flexibility and ability to work with a wide variety of people and projects in a collective and collaborative manner.

•   Degree from a reputable university (BSc, BA or LLB).

•   A Master’s degree will be a clear advantage
