The Lagos State Executive Committee set up to review the new school fees of the Lagos State University, LASU will submit its report today.
.
The committee, instituted by Governor Babatunde Fashola, is headed by the Lagos state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa and was inaugurated last month.
.
It will be recalled that an increase in the school fees of LASU by over 350 percent has sparked widespread protest by the students and a strike action by the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, LASU chapter.
.
The committee chairman said that the state government would act on the committee's report.
.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of LASU, Professor John Obafunwa, has denied claims by the SUG that the new fee regime introduced in 2011 has led to high rate of students' dropout, arguing that the students who dropped out did so because they did not meet the appropriate CGP of the school.
.
Reacting to this, the President of the SUG, Mr. Yusuf Nurudeen, challenged the Vice Chancellor to a public debate on the issue saying that over 1,000 students have left the school because of the new fee.
