The industrial action embarked upon by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has been suspended by the Kaduna State chapter of the union following an "understanding" reached between the lecturers and the state government.
.
It will recalled that the union embarked on an indefinite strike in January asking the state government to pay its members 20 percent of the Consolidated Tertiary Institution Salary Structure.
.
The Kaduna State COEASU Chairman, Gidan Waya, said that the suspension was also necessitated by the state government's willingness to pay the balance of CONPCASS to members of the union by January 2015, in addition to appeals from different quarters on the need to call off the strike.
.
He however urges the state government to keep the promises that led to the suspension of the strike in the state.
