Kano State Government has shut down primary and secondary schools across the state following dispute between the federal government and Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) over resumption date.
.
The action is coming barely 24 hours after both public and private schools resumed from long vacation due to outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.
.
A public announcement by the state Ministry of Education signed by the Permanent Secretary, Audi AbdulKadir Bappa was, however, not specific on the resumption date.
.
The statement read: "We notice with dismay the current dispute between the federal government and Nigerian Union of Teachers, as it affects learning and are compelled to suspend academic activities until after Eid Kabir."
.
The permanent secretary further disclosed that Kano is yet to receive anti-Ebola kits from the Ministry of Health.
.
He said: "Considering these unresolved issues on ground, it is imperative to return the children back home."
