Fabregas transfer tussle to drag on into August

The transfer tussle between Arsenal and Barcelona over Cesc Fabregas is unlikely to be resolved until August.

Barcelona are likely to increase their offer towards £35m, but are factoring £7m into any deal, insisting that Arsenal owe them that sum for teenagers Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin, who have left the Nou Camp for the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal insist they have paid the set compensation of £350,000 for each player and have done nothing wrong.

They are now making it a point of principle that they will not sell unless Bellerin and Toral are removed from the deal.

However, Barcelona see it as a chance for revenge for Arsenal signing Fabregas in the first place, as well as losing Fran Merida, who followed in Fabregas' footsteps.
