Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has announced that workers whose appointments came during the "phantom exercise" carried out by his predecessor, Aliyu Akwe Doma, few days before his exit from Government House, will go the way they came in.

According to statistics, there are more ghost workers in the north than in other parts of Nigeria. It is alarming how governors of most states would allow such menace in their respective government.

l have personal met with different corp members who served in different parts of the north, especially at local and state goverment. They all recounted their experiences in the north.

Almost all of them (Corp members) made mention of the high rate of "ghost workers" in the north. People who do no actual work, but are on the council and state government's payroll. They only come to work at the end of the month to sign and collect salaries.

How long shall will continue to run Nigeria like this, and expect progress?
