Barcelona are saving their number four shirt for Cesc Fabregas - even though his transfer saga has turned ugly.

The Spanish giants are privately making it clear they will not match Arsenal's £40million asking price and relations between the clubs are at an all-time low.

The mayor of Arenys de Munt, Fabregas' hometown, has even waded in, accusing the Gunners of "kidnapping" the Spanish midfielder.

Politician Estanislao Fors said: "It is necessary to behave well and stop this. This is like a kidnapping and they must let him go."
