Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – RCSI – Connecting Health Research in Africa and Ireland Consortium

We are offering PhD’s in health systems / services research.  PhD training is one component of a Partnership Programme of health research capacity strengthening involving three Irish and seven Africa-based Higher Education Institutes.  The Irish partners who are responsible for the training, which will be delivered in Ireland, are: the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG).

The goal of the Partnership:
To build health research capacity in Ireland and Africa so as to conduct research that strengthens health systems in Africa to serve the poor more effectively.

PhD Programme will include:
    * Relevant taught modules in the first year of study in Ireland
    * Guidance in developing a research topic
    * Supervision by internationally renowned principal investigators

We welcome co-funded, self-funded and external-scholarship-funded candidates with a Masters degree or a first or upper second class honours (2.1) Bachelors degree. 

Deadline for applications is Monday 12th April 2010. Interviews will take place in Dublin May 2010.
