Members of the Action Congress (AC) in the South-South zone have begun consultations on the party's future as the 2011 election approaches.

The leader of the party in Rivers, Tonye Princewill, told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had told stakeholders to consult with their people on the party's future.

He said that after a meeting with Atiku in Abuja, some leaders were told to go home and get the opinions of the people on what should be done and directions to take. Princewill said the consultation would be in form of bottom-top approach to feel the opinion of the people at the grassroots and thereafter report to the enlarged body on the outcome of their interactions.  "We are going to convene again in Abuja in a few days time and we will get feedback from all the states.

"The intention, of course, is to go from bottom up rather than from top down to capture the opinions of the people at the grassroots level as to what should be done."
