Study Africa in Uppsala - Study Scholarships

The Nordic Africa Institute, which encourages research and studies on Africa in the Nordic countries, invites applications for a number of one month scholarships to study at the Institute's library. The scholarship covers travel expenses to and from Uppsala and accommodation. Included in the scholarship is a small cash contribution intended to cover the extra cost of living while in Uppsala.

Eligibilities: The scholarships can be applied for by students at universities and colleges in the Nordic countries and by journalists and authors of textbooks.

Purpose: The primary purpose of the scholarship is to enable the scholarship holders to use the library at Nordiska Afrikainstitutet, which contains a large collection of literature on contemporary Africa (books, periodicals, newspapers, government publications). The scholarship holders also have access to the Uppsala University Library, the Dag Hammarskjöld Library and the Library of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

The scholarship: The study scholarship is intended to facilitate a one-month visit to Nordiska Afrikainstitutet in Uppsala. The scholarship covers travelling expenses for a return fare from study/work place to Uppsala and accommodation. Moreover, the study scholarship holder receives a small cash contribution to cover extra expenses while in Uppsala.

Application dates: The study scholarship are awarded biannually and the applications must be received at the Institute by

•   1 October for the period January-June, and
•   1 April for the period August-December
