Studentships are awarded through open competition to the candidate who best matches the requirements of the research topic or field of study. This opportunity is advertised as and when the research studentship is made available from the faculties.

A deadline date for the receipt of applications, as defined by the faculty is clearly indicated in the advertised opportunity. Applications should be made using the Research Degree Student application form.

All application forms will be vetted by the Director of Studies for short-listing for an interview. The Postgraduate Research Admissions Team will notify the successful and unsuccessful candidates accordingly.

The offer of a studentship to an applicant will follow a successful interview with the host faculty.  The Postgraduate Research Admission Team will communicate the result of the interview with successful candidates, with an offer letter which sets out the terms and conditions of the studentship through the University Research Studentship Agreement. The successful student will be required to indicate his/her acceptance of the offer in writing otherwise this opportunity will be made available to other applicants.

Coventry University Research Studentships consist of one or more of the following elements:

    * A maintenance grant paid directly to the student
    * Payment to the University to cover all or a proportion of the student's full-time or part-time fees
    * A fixed research support allowance to subsidise the student's programme of study
