Jonathan picks Kaduna Governor Sambo as VP

THE battle for Vice President took another shape last night, with governors rooting for their Kaduna State colleague Namadi Sambo.

President Goodluck Jonathan accepted their choice, a source said this morning. Sambo's name may be sent to the National Assembly today.

Sambo's choice, according to a source, is the climax of a desperate power game, which will see Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Vincent Ogbulafor throwing in the towel.

Ogbulafor is facing corruption charges in court. Apparently sensing that saving him may be hard, the governors may have thought of a trade-off – give us Sambo and let Ogbulafor go.
