Akpabio, Innoson Among Honours Recipients

 For setting the pace in uncommon transformation and people oriented leadership, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State will on November 14, 2011 be conferred with a national honour by President Goodluck Jonathan.

In the same vein, due to his enormous contributions in promoting commerce and industry in Nigeria , the Chairman of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma is to be  conferred with with Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR).

The event billed for the International conference Center, Abuja will witness the conferment of the award of Commander of the Order of Niger(CON) on Akpabio.

Reacting, the State's  Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Aniekan Umanah said the award on Akpabio was well deserved and a confirmation of the uncommon transformation which the governor has brought to the state.

"This is an honour well deserved because Akpabio has distinguished himself in the transformation drive which has positioned Akwa Ibom as a model state in Nigeria.

"The people of Akwa Ibom State are grateful to the President for this honour done Akpabio. It shows that the giant strides recorded by Akpabio in infrastructural and human capital development is being recognized and appreciated by Nigerians," Umanah said.

On December 22, 2008, Chukwuma was honoured with Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) by the late President, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua in recognition of his outstanding virtues and appreciation of his services to Nigeria.  On September 23, 2010, at Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan awarded him National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) for fulfilling all the necessary requirements expected in the production of goods and services.

Chukwuma's industrial record is outstanding.  His group is into so many viable products ranging from motorcycle assembly, plastics, motor manufacturing, tyres and tubes production and so on.
