Gunmen Kill 20, Injure 15 In Mubi, Adamawa

 NIGERIA police authority says suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked a Town Hall building in Mubi of Adamawa State, killing 20 people, while attending a meeting of the Igbo Association at about 12 noon.

Mubi is a border town with Cameroun Republic and 265 kilometres south of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Confirming the attacks and multiple killings yesterday, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ade T. Shinaba said: "an undisclosed number of suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked one of the Town Halls in Mubi, while some traders were conducting their meeting before commencing their business.

The gunmen fired several gunshots at the people, killing about 20 of them, before our men and officers rushed to the hall to repel the gunmen from further attacks and killing in the area."

He said about 15 traders and by passers was also injured in the Town Hall meeting, stating that the gunmen used Kalashnikov rifles, cutlasses and knives on their hips in attacking people at their meeting.

Okey Raymond, 48, a resident and member at the meeting, who escaped the attacks, said: "We were holding our regular traders' meeting in this hall when we started hearing many gun shots through the windows.

Every one scampered for safety, but the gunmen chanted.... God is great God is great, while shooting at us. I hid under table before escaping through the rear entrance of the hall."

On whether arrests were made, Shinaba said: "no arrests have been made. The operations against the suspected gunmen are still going on, while an investigation by the police is being conducted to further ascertain casualties of the black Friday attacks on Mubi traders and businessmen."

As at 1.30pm the townhall has been condoned off by the police, to prevent whether explosives were planted around the hall.

Shinaba told The Guardian that all the 15 injured in the attacks have taken to the General Hospital, adding that some of the injuries were sustained from gunshots and bruises sustained, while escaping through the windows and doors of the hall.
