About the Organization:

MicroCred aims to create a group of commercial microfinance companies and banks offering diverse financial services including loans and savings products among others to low-income entrepreneurs unserved or underserved by the traditional financial sector. MicroCred invests in microfinance companies and banks and provides them with the technical assistance they need to become leading institutions in their respective countries.

About the Job:

MicroCred is looking for a Commercial Development & Marketing Consultant who within the framework of the development of its activities, will work on products and operational strategy, operations policy / procedures review, revision manual development, training and coaching of local middle management as well as advise/counsel executive committee (ExCo) on operational matters. The position is based in Kaduna, Nigeria and will last from 12 to 15 months.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

•    Products and operational strategy:

o   Optimization of the operational organization / new technology:

   Set up the recommendation of the board to increase performance and productivity of the operations;

   Propose and implement innovative solution to optimize the performance or improve the quality of services.

o   Product development:

   Ensure that a diversified set of products is developed in accordance to the marketing strategy previously defined;

   Manage the development and the launching of new products;

   Work on pricing and target niches of each product so that they make sense both operationally and financially;

   Review the current savings products offerings as envisaged by MC Nigeria.

•   Operations review, revision and training:

o   Review the current operations policies and develop manuals as required;

o   Revise and train operatives to ensure optimum processes and procedures are applied in MC Nigeria;

o   Update the loan and savings manual in line with the Operational Guidelines of MicroCred Holding and the new standard format.

•   Training and coaching of COs:

o   Supervision of COs during promotion of financial products, evaluation of clients' business, credit committee, loan monitoring and recovery;

o   Make recommendations to improve the techniques of COs;

o   Support the HR training officer in designing the appropriate training plan and training modules for all operational staff;

o   Provide class room training to new and experienced Cos in promotion, evaluation, credit committee, follow up and recovery.

•   Training and coaching of local operations middle management:

o   Train the BM, supervisors and high potential COs in:

   Time management;

   Management of staff (how to discipline / motivate staff);

   Training of trainer;

   Internal control;

   Risk management;

   How to conduct an efficient credit committee;

   Recovery techniques;

   Loan monitoring;

   Direct marketing of the financial products and services by COs;

   Know your customers (psychological aspects).

o   Day-to-day coaching of BM and supervisors.

•   Advise and counsel ExCO on operational matters:

o   Advise on organization of operations department;

o   Review / Develop strategic development plan;

o   Assist COO on operations issue.

Qualifications:

•   Required Skills:

o   Knowledgeable about Nigerian accounting principles/practices;

o   CPA (desired);

o   Management experience;

o   Knowledge of microfinance bank operations (loans, savings, etc.);

o   Knowledge of individual lending methodologies in microfinance;

o   Knowledge of internal control;

o   Moral integrity;

o   Able to work alone and in team;

o   Strong self initiative;

o   Fluent in English.

•   Education / Experience;

o   University degree in management / finance;

o   At least five year of experience in microfinance;

o   Experience as a branch manager in an MFI;

o   Relevant experience in an MFI.
