Position Description:

• The role of the Information Systems Auditor is to provide independent assurance to Board Audit Committee and management that risk is managed within the risk profile of applications and IT infrastructure that support the business processes of the bank.

• Deliver quality multi functional audits of activities within Standard Bank, under the supervision of the relative portfolio manager.

To effectively and efficiently carry out planned audit assignments approved by the Head of Internal Audit.

Key Deliverables:

• Participate in implementation of IT projects.

• Participate in the planning of the audits to be undertaken for the year and drafting of the strategic audit plan.

• Review and ensure that Information communication technology (ICT) security is adequate, effective and efficient in all areas viz a viz: Authorization and repudiation controls, Physical access controls, Logical access controls, Environmental controls, Administrative Controls, Communication and network controls.

• Review applications/ systems to ensure functionality, availability and processing controls like segregation of duties.

• Assist in the implementation of information system projects and ensure that the relevant controls are in place from on set.

• Review and ensure that the business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place and are being implemented as required.

• Review and ensure that there are adequate controls over IT processes of managing problems/ incidents as well as proper escalation procedures.

• Review and ensure there are adequate controls over IT processes of managing data (source documents, authorization and approvals, retention, handling of output from IT application programs, report distribution, data storage, etc).

• Review of Income Assurance using Audit Command Language (ACL) to guard against income leakages through unauthorized income and expense e.g interest rates etc.

• Writing audit findings and reports based on the results of the audit work i.e. – identifying control weaknesses and deviations from prescribed procedures, the underlying cause of these conditions, the implication to the organisation and recommending appropriate corrective action.

• Assessing the adequacy of corrective action implemented by the audit entity.

• Execution of quality audits to conform to GIA standards and methods.

• Generation of reports for investigation/audits using ACL.

• Investigate IT related problems/ issues.

• Ad hoc as assigned by Head of Department.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Problem Solving:

•Simple and Complex Data Analysis employing Computer Assisted Audit Tools.

Planning

•Draw up audit scope for Information System Audits.

Decision making:

•Making Decisions on the adequacy and effectiveness of process/ system controls based on availability of information and required evidences.

Knowledge

•Detailed knowledge of banking systems, applications and processes, and modern internal auditing practices will be an advantage.

Experience:

•Banking experience, part of which must have been in the Internal Audit or IT department.

or

•Completion of articles or relevant internal auditing experience focusing on application and general control audits.

•Experience in SDLC / project auditing will be an added advantage

Required Competencies:

•Possession of first degree or a professional qualification such as CISA or CIA, ACCA, CA, CISM, CIMA) is essential.

•Ability to communicate at all levels, both orally and in writing.

•Analytical, numeric and negotiating skills.
