Corporate Relations is the function which is responsible for promoting, protecting and building the reputation of HEINEKEN both globally and locally, which is done via the integration of four distinct disciplines, which allow us to develop, align and execute HEINEKEN programming:

•   Employee Engagement

•   External Communications

•   Public Affairs

•   Sustainable Development

HEINEKEN Employee Engagement:

Engaged employees are those that are emotionally connected to the company with a strong sense of ownership and understanding of the contribution they make to the success of the HEINEKEN Group.

We aim to inform and connect HEINEKEN employees to the broader business strategies through dedicated employee engagement strategies & channels and instilling motivation and ensuring that there is clarity on how as individuals they contribute both within their teams and as individuals to the company. We have a specific focus on (senior) managers and the global Corporate Relations network, enabling them to cascade and fulfill their communications role locally.

From 2011-13 we will be committed to focusing on Employee Engagement strategies which include:

•   Developing and engaging employees on the Heineken story (HEINEKEN ambition, company strategy, priorities and ways of working),

•   Maximising the benefit and minimising the impact of the significant change underway across the business,

•   Embedding and engaging employees to contribute to the long-term 'Brewing a Better Future' sustainability agenda,

•   Increasing the scope, frequency and effectiveness of Interactive Communications across the business.

HEINEKEN External Communications:

The External Communications team is responsible for the creation of the HEINEKEN story and engaging stakeholders via Media Relations & Brand PR including:

•   Building a strong reputation and gaining share of voice in broadcast, print and on-line media versus the competition,

•   Being a thought leader on important issues that affect HEINEKEN business and society as a whole,

•   Making HEINEKEN an 'in conversation' brand,

•   Utilising HEINEKEN global sponsorships (UEFA Champions League, Rugby World Cup etc.).

HEINEKEN Public Affairs responsibility is to protect HEINEKEN license to operate by:

•   Driving the positive image of beer,

•   Focusing on responsible consumption,

•   Working closely with industry colleagues,

•   Participation in discussions with the WHO on its Global Alcohol Strategy.

HEINEKEN Sustainable Development responsibility is to embed and integrate sustainability by:

•   Establishing a sustainability community,

•   Supporting HEINEKEN Operating Companies in rolling out their sustainability agenda,

•   Integrating sustainability into all business processes,

•   Keeping the agenda alive and relevant.
