Man bags 1 year imprisonment for stealing cable

Abuja- An Abuja Upper Area Court on Thursday sentenced one Abubakar Sani, 21, to 12 months imprisonment for stealing armoured cable.

The Judge, Mr Adamu Wakili, who sentenced the convict, however, gave him an option of N6,000 fine.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Ambi Ayuba, told the court that the convict admitted that he committed the crime during investigations.

He said that the convict was charged with joint act and theft, which contravened sections 79 and 288 of the Penal Code.

Ayuba said that the matter was reported at Garki Police Station, Abuja on March 26, by Insp. Joseph Musa.

He said that the convict and two others, now at large, went into the National Stadium, Abuja, stole the armoured and destroyed it in the process of cutting it. (NAN)
