LAGOS—Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Mr. George Uriesi, yesterday, told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos that he was not in disobedience to an order of the court.

Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, had last week, summoned him and other members of the management of FAAN to appear before her over allegations of contempt against them.

The contempt proceeding was initiated by Maevis Limited, over  the court's earlier order delivered  on  September 24, 2010, which the company claimed FAAN had flouted.

Uriesi, through his court, denied that he and others were never in disobedience of court, saying, "We were never in violation of any order. We will prove this when it come to that."

He said they were not in court, not out of disobedience, but because they had left the service of FAAN and were probably not aware of the court's processes.

Hearing in the contempt proceeding could not go on, yesterday, as FAAN's counsel told the court that he had filed two separate applications before the Court of Appeal which should he heard and determined before the proceedings before Nyako could continue.
