Champions League: We’ll overcome Recreativo – Akombo

Sunshine Stars  striker, Akombo Ukeyima is optimistic that the Akure side will over turn their  4-1 deficit suffered in the hands of Recreativo de Libolo of Angola in the first leg of the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League.

Speaking to Sunday Vanguard Sports from the teams' camp in Ijebu-Ode, Akombo said the spirit in camp coupled with the 4-1 white wash handed Wikki Tourist FC last Wednesday will motivate the team to victory today at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu Ode.

The former Kwara United goal poacher noted that the thought of not failing Nigerians has made the team prepare hard for the game.

"Preparation is in top gear as we look ahead to overturning the 4-1 deficit conceded a fortnight ago. The spirit in camp is high following our 4-1 victory over Wikki Tourist in a reschedule league match last Wednesday. We intend to restore smiles on the faces of Nigerians and the government of Ondo State for their immense support since we started the campaign.

"We used the tie to shapen up our tactics for Recreativo de Libolo. The joy is that we won the game with a large margin and my colleagues are in the right frame of mind to do the country proud so we can qualifier for the next stage of the tournament. With this, I think we will overturn the deficit by the grace of God," Akopmba said.
