Boko Haram Militants Strikes At The Heart Of Borno Political Elite

Citizen Reports - Last night at 8:00PM in Maiduguri, Borno State capital city, Boko Haram militants shot and killed a police officer guarding the residence of the Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Goni Ali Modu.
                      
The militants also shot and killed one of the top Borno State politician, Alhaji Awana Ali Ngala.  The late Alhaji Ngala was the State Chairman of the All-Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) which is the ruling party in Borno State since 1999.

The late Ngala is married to one of Borno State Governor Sheriff's sister.  Governor Ali Modu Sheriff is the son of highly controversial business tycoon, Galadima Alhaji Modu Sherriff ,who is considered one of the political god-fathers in Borno State.  Galadima Sheriff's house is now heavily guarded by police. 

A source close to the state house in Borno said Governor Sheriff and the people surrounding him seems visibly shaken and very scared.

A few weeks ago, spokesperson for the Boko Haram sect told a BBC interviewer that the sect would kill the former police commissioner in the state before killing the governor, Ali Modu Sherriff.
