JTF kills 3 robbery suspects in Maiduguri

MAIDUGURI—The Joint Task Force, JTF, in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, yesterday, said its members killed three suspected armed robbers and one adherent of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

Spokesman of the JTF, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, confirmed the killing during a telephone interview in Maiduguri, adding that 13 Boko Haram suspects were arrested during the operations.

He said the men of the JTF, following a tip off, raided a hideout of some of the suspected adhereents at about 5:30 am at Pompomari ward in the metropolis, which led to the killing of one of them, even as he added that an AK47 rifle and some unexpended explosives were recovered.

Sagir said that in a related development, the JTF earlier conducted another search in Wulari area of the at about 3:30 am, during which it arrested some of the suspects, now undergoing interrogation.

Similarly, Sagir stated that the JTF responded to a distress call in Gomari ward at about 2:18am where they engaged some armed robbers in a shoot out which led to the killing of three of them, pointing out that, items recovered from them included one pistol and a dane gun.
