Job Title: Junior Orthopeadic Surgeon

Location: Teme Hospital, Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Requirements  

•   A degree in Medicine is a must

•   Specialist Consultant degree in Orthopedic Surgery

•   At least 12 months experience working as a Consultant in Orthopedic Surgery

•   Compassionate, flexible and committed personality

•   Understanding of MSF humanitarian mission to serve populations in need

•   Excellent communication skills with people from broadly diverse backgrounds

•   Able to work independently and exhibit strong judgment

Main Responsibilities

•   In hospital medical/surgical management of re-admitted chronic patients  in a liaising/coordinating capacity with the surgical team (expat and National consultants), the National staff doctors, the physiotherapists and OPD staff, in order to ensure the optimal integrated development, implementation and follow-up of medical and surgical treatment plans for individual chronic cases.

•   Regular follow-up of all chronic cases as OPD patients according to the same standards of care as per in-patient chronic patients

•   Train, support and supervise National doctors and nurses with ad-hoc seminars, workshops as well as during in-patients rounds, OPD consultations on the appropriate identification of chronic patients and subsequent preparation of individual treatment plans and follow-up care with focus on the medical, surgical, physiotherapy and orthopedic health care needs of chronic patients.
