Lagos residents protest doctors’ strike

  Fashola  Residents in the various Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State on Friday stormed the office of the state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to protest the lingering industrial action by doctors in the state.

They brandished placards with inscriptions such as “Government and doctors please embrace dialogue, ‘you can’t intimidate Lagosians”, “Lagos doctors stop the killing”, “Human feelings, social carter, these are the attributes of ideal doctors” and “Fear God, stop strike” among others.

The protesters, who were mostly women, were led by Evangelist Bola Popoola and Sesan Sowande.

They appealed to the governor to find a way of resolving the situation so as to prevent further loss of lives in the state hospitals.

Sowande informed the governor that the protest was influenced by the resultant effect of the strike on the people.

“Many deaths are recorded on daily basis and the sick ones among us cannot receive medical attention. We acknowledged the ef

fort of the government who has provided health infrastructure for us. But it is just so unfortunate that the doctors have over stretched this situation,” she said.
