Confusion and anxiety reigned supreme amongst staff and guests of Imo Concorde Hotel, Owerri, as one of the customers, Mr. Uzoma Onyekuru, suddenly slumped, started foaming from his mouth and later died.

Our Correspondent, who was at the scene of the incident, noticed how the hotel staff made panicky efforts to move the dying man to any nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.

A KIA Rio saloon car, sporting the hotel's inscription, was moved to the lobby while the hotel staff, who exhibited serious shortcomings in handling medical emergencies, managed to lift Uzoma into the waiting car.

Most members of staff kept sealed lips over the issue, even when some concerned citizens who got wind of the ugly incident made frantic efforts to get an update of the incident.

When Saturday Vanguard called again yesterday morning to find out the development, people were seen in groups and talking in hushed tones but a hotel staff that spoke on strict grounds of anonymity said "the man died on the way to hospital".

It was not clear at press time where the man was coming from or where he was heading to before he died in the hotel but Vanguard however gathered that his remains have been deposited in one of the mortuaries in Owerri.

Feelers from Mpama, Egbu, Owerri North local council area country home spoke glowingly of late Uzoma, even as his aged mother have remained devastated.
