IKEJA—An Ikeja High Court, Lagos, yesterday, threatened to strike out the suit contesting the election of  the Ikeja branch of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, if parties waste the time of the court.

The  court  handed down the warning after it gave seven days to parties to tidy up their papers before the next adjournment  day.

The short ruling was sequel to applications made by counsel representing parties in the case. The lawyers, yesterday, made different applications before the court, contradicting each other.

One of the contestants to the office of the chairman of the branch, Mr. Yinka Farounbi, is challenging the election of Mr. Monday Ubani, who won the election conducted on May 9, 2012.

At the last hearing in the case, the court renewed the order, restraining  the chairman of NBA Ikeja branch from swearing in the newly- elected officers. The court also ordered defendants in the suit to file their preliminary objection and response on point of law to the motion on notice  by the claimant.
