Purpose Statement:

•   The Certifying Engineer – Avionics (B2) is responsible for accomplishing designated maintenance requirements on Air Nigeria and any contracted customer's aircraft.

•   The primary objective is to ensure the continued safe operation of the aircraft by achieving' and striving to exceed, the standards of airworthiness set by Corporate and Airworthiness Authority policy, procedures and requirements.

Key Accountabilities:  – The Certifying Engineers actions have a direct impact upon the safe and economical operation of Company and Customers aircraft fleets. Failure to follow the manufacturers documented maintenance procedures and the inability to exercise good engineering practises could have a serious financial impact on the Company, and have a direct impact on the Customers perception of Air Nigeria's quality standards  – The overall purpose of the Maintenance Units and Line Maintenance stations is to cost effectively produce safe, clean, serviceable and reliable aircraft to meet the requirements of the Corporate flight Programme. The Certifying Engineers are a fundamental, legally required element in the process of achieving this objective on a daily basis.  – The Certifying Engineer has to ensure that the regular routine maintenance requirements are accomplished to the correct standards of airworthiness on each occasion  – The Certifying Engineer has to ensure that non-routine maintenance requirements are administered in a cost – effective and expedient fashion. In addition the C.E has to meet exacting standards of airworthiness whilst attempting to meet the aircraft's operational programme  – The Certifying Engineer is the first level of technical supervision and is therefore responsible for the quality standards of maintenance tasks accomplished by his team and for himself.  – The Certifying Engineer must accomplish and administer the operational maintenance activities in an efficient manner within various operational parameters and often under difficult or uncomfortable circumstances.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:  – Successful completion of a recognised aeronautical apprenticeship or formal training package. Usual duration 3 to 4 years.  – Full NCAA Avionics license with at least a B737-300/400/500 endorsement. B2 EASA Engineers certification will be an added advantage.  – Certifying Engineers are a legal requirement as dictated in the NCAA. The NCAA requires that Aircraft Engineers possessing the privilege of maintenance certification hold Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licenses and appropriate Company Approval.  – They must hold a driving licence and be IT Literate.  – Possession of a sound aircraft engineering background in the under listed aircraft type, with at least 10 year's experience of which 5 years should have been in a certifying role.  – Aircraft type: B737 – 300 and E170/190
