About the role:

The role is accountable for directing the information and data integrity of the enterprise and its groups and for all Information Technology functions of the enterprise.  This includes all data centers, technical service centers, production scheduling functions, help desks, communication networks (voice and data), computer program development, and computer systems operations.  He or she is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all electronic and optical books and records of the enterprise.

The role reviews all computerized and manual systems; information processing equipment and software for acquisition, storage and retrieval; and definition of the strategic direction of all information processing and communication systems and operations.  He or she provides overall management and definition of all computer and communication activities within the enterprise including responsibility for providing a leadership role in the day to day operations of the Information Technology functions as well as providing direction as the enterprise grows through internal growth and external acquisition.

The role interacts with the executive management team to monitor and validate the enterprise's compliance with its security policies.

Roles include but not limited to:

•   Implementation of SAP/Oracle software

•   Overseeing the development and maintenance of the IT strategic plan;

•   Approving vendors used by the organization and monitors their financial condition;

•   Approving and monitoring major projects, IT budgets, priorities, standards, procedures, and overall IT performance;

•   Coordinating priorities between the IT department and user departments; and

•   Reviewing the adequacy and allocation of IT resources in terms of funding, personnel, equipment, and service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Systems Maintenance

•   Oversees the administration and maintenance of computer stations and software.

•   Oversees troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary.

•   Troubleshoot networks to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties

•   To  test new devices and equipment this include – programming electronics; troubleshooting problems; and ensuring equipments works correctly;

•   Works with project teams to help implement internal systems.

Help Desk Administration

•   Draw up Policy and Procedure Manuals (P&PMs) for all processes within the department and provide input to other departments where there are overlapping processes.

•   Oversees all help desk activities at all levels.

•   Responds to escalated help desk issues.

•   Interacts with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.

•   To liaise with technicians and manufacturers to discuss and solve problems with quality control and purchasing.

Networking

•   Monitor computer networks and manage local area connections

•   Assists in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting infrastructure.

•   Implements network security at all levels.

•   Oversees the administration and maintenance of the company's infrastructure, and directs junior IT officers when necessary.

•   Oversees the administration of the company's WAN/WLAN.

Security

•   Maintain all host security activities including access controls

•   Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports.

•   Manage the Backup and restoration process

•   Consistently monitor antivirus and other security software usage in terms of expiry date or for upgrade.

Asset Management

•   Helps decide, in conjunction with corporate leadership, which software and hardware products and other equipment are most suited for use.

•   Oversees IT-related asset purchases on a company-wide basis.

•   Manages software licenses on a company-wide basis.

•   Ensures that company assets are maintained responsibly.

•   Builds and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products.

•   Manages the purchasing of all software, hardware and other IT supplies.

•   To conduct research and assess the potential wider market for new technologies or products modifications available to improve the operational functioning of the Business

•   Liaising with end-users to conduct research, provide support and solve operational problems.

Skills & Experience:

•   Bachelor's Degree, equivalent or higher, in Computer Science/Engineering.

•   8 – 10 overall years of experience and a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.

•   Knowledge of the construction industry and company operations will be an added advantage.

•   Certifications in MCP/ MSCE/ CCNA/ CCNP is desirable

•   Certification in Oracle Software modules will be an advantage

•   Experience in network and system design and engineering

•   Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures

•   Management of ISP vendors
