The Danish media group Berlingske Group has decided to leave Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange in favour of OpenOffice.org and Google.  The Berlingske Media Group is one of the most important business papers in Denmark and most of the local newspapers in DK is owned by the group and over 3200 staff will benefit.

The annual cost savings is about DKK 2.000.000 on just licensing, including eliminating the need for Citrix.  Additional savings are expected later, such as lower maintenance costs and greater interoperability with other EU businesses, member states and even international organizations like NATO. 

Note: for those that hesitate to use Google for calendar work and scheduling, there are high-end tools like kolab, created for the German Federal Office for Information Security, and citadel.
