Eligibility:

•Scholarships are open to South African citizens and South African permanent residents only with an honours or master's degree for studies in the listed Innovation fields of study.

• Applicants should have obtained an aggregate of at least 60% in their previous degree.Scholarships must not be held simultaneously with a bursary/ scholarship from any other government or NRF source or NRF administered source.

• Scholarship-holders are allowed to hold non- binding supplementary grants or emoluments to the institutional capped value for the level of study.

Scholarship Description: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has identified a key objective linked to the National Research and Development Strategy of 2002, to promote and support research through funding and human capacity development by creating a robust National System of Innovation (NSI) in South Africa. The DST has therefore made available financial support for masters and doctoral students. The National Research Foundation (NRF) is responsible for the management of the Innovation scholarships programme.The programme supports South African and South African permanent residence studying on a full- time basis at South African higher education institutions (HEI's) and science councils.
