Job Description:    

•In line with central business plan and technology strategy, approve PPOE presentation, material planning and ordering as it relates to Transmission access project requirements within the access network.

•Ensure that Transmission access network topology, capacity and infrastructure are designed to achieve quality and performance KPIs as well as marketing and sales targets defined in the business plan.

•Ensure strict adherence to the overall aggregation and backhaul network strategy developed by the National Topology team.

•Direct and manage the access, aggregation and backhaul network i.e. Access Multiplexer/Aggregation Nodes, access microwave links (PTP/PMP), leased circuits.

•Approve cost effective architecture for various Transmission infrastructures, medium and technology i.e. fixed network, NFE, Fiber to Site, FTTx, satellite transmission.

•Approve the planning and deployment strategy for access network modernization.

•Drive and ensure the timely provision of transmission, access capacity and infrastructure and other dependencies to support the nominal network rollout objectives as it affects the specific region of focus.

•Ensure regional managers provide support to the National Transmission Core Network function by providing field sensitive feedback and input into the nominal rollout strategy

•Ensure regional managers network performance and optimization input is reflected in new designs & configuration to ensure conformance with performance strategy and KPIs

•Ensure teams processes and procedure are in conformance to best practice and make recommendations to the management where necessary.

•Ensure weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on regional transmission planning activities are available to higher management.

•High level management of and approvals for availability of adequate tools and resources for transmission planning activities in all regions

•Custodian of and Manages transmission access planning project documentation and procedures.

•Ensure strict adherence to 100% accuracy and thorough knowledge/configurations/database records of the transmission access network capacity and infrastructure at all times.

•Ensure regional managers provide  technical support to all other departments regarding the network planning, rollout and general transmission access related problems

•Maintain access Transmission infrastructure database and make relevant data readily available on request.

•Ensure access Transmission capacity is at least 6 months ahead of rollout requirement.

•Scope access transmission project for end-to-end delivery of regional capacity.`

Job Conditions:   

•General MTN N working conditions.

•A valid drivers license.

•Additional working time is usually required on a need basis.

Reporting To:   General Manager, Network Access Division

Required Skills:   

•B.Sc. in Electrical/ Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering

•MSC in Telecoms or equivalent would be an advantage

•Minimum of 12years work experience, 10 years of which must be in Telecoms industry, especially in Transmission with specific experience in:

{General electrical radio engineering, microwave radio transmission at high frequencies, fibre optic transmission networks, route planning and  connectivity of  logical networks

•At least three (5) years managerial experience with a telecommunications operator

•Experience of working on a multi-vendor transmission network environment. Experience on Ericsson, Aviat and Huawei transmission equipment will be desirable.

Qualification:    

•B.Sc. in Electrical/ Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering

•MSC in Telecoms or equivalent would be an advantage
