Eligibility:

-Applicants must be citizens of a foreign country or holders of dual citizenship outside the United States studying on F-1 student visas at UCLA Extension

-At the time of application for this scholarship, students must satisfy all of these three conditions: be in full-time F-1 student status at UCLA Extension; have completed at least 12 units with grades of C or better in a UCLA Extension certificate program; have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 in that certificate program. Your grades must appear on your transcripts

-Applicants must be in good standing at the time of application having followed all regulations for F-1 students as well as all policies of UCLA Extension.

Scholarship Description: The Laurel Hummel Scholarships for International Students were established at UCLA Extension in 2005 by the Hummel family as a tribute to Laurel Hummel who created the first International Student Office and a certificate program designed especially for foreign students at UCLA Extension in the 1970s. The purpose of the Laurel Hummel Scholarships is to foster multicultural perspectives in the classroom that reflect today's global society. With these scholarships, Extension will acknowledge those students who have demonstrated academic achievement, interpersonal communication skills, or unique abilities that advance multicultural perspectives in the classroom through their coursework in an approved certificate program at UCLA Extension. Recipients will receive a US$1,350 scholarship award toward their course fees at UCLA Extension. Three recipients will be selected each academic quarter and will have two years from their notification date to utilize the scholarship. The scholarship award amount is not transferable to another person.
