C-River Muslim leaders meet on security

CALABAR — CROSS River State Government and Hausa/Fulani Muslim leaders, have held a workshop on ensuring that the state remains the most peaceful in the country.

Declaring the workshop open yesterday, the state Security Adviser, Mr. Rekpene Bassey, told the Muslim leaders that the state government regarded them as indigenes of the state and that the workshop was the third in the series of talk-shops approved by Governor Liyel Imoke to meet and interact with various leaders on issues of security.

Bassey said:  "Nigeria is today experiencing what could be described as the most serious security challenge since the end of the civil war in 1970. This situation calls for sacrifice and patriotism to ensure that the current happenings do not overwhelm us."
