SAPELE— WORKERS of five contractors that supplied sharp sand to a Sapele-based Belgian bitumen company, Ragardas Nigeria Limited, near in Ogorode, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, are protesting non-payment of contract done, claiming the  they are being owed over N20 million.

The aggrieved workers alleged that their companies, after supplying the  several metric tons of sharp sand to Ragardas in accordance with the job orders, the company had reneged on the terms of contract enshrined in the job orders, by refusing to pay them.

One of the contractors, Betatex Engineering Ltd, told Vanguard in Sapele, yesterday, through its spokesman, Jonathan Amitaye, that the terms of payment agreed between the contractors and  Ragardas which was clearly spelt out in the job orders, LPOs, was that they were to be paid on the day the contract was completed.

He alleged that over three months after the contracts had been executed, they had not been paid despite repeated demands.

When Vanguard visited the company yesterday, the terminal manager of the company, Mr Ashok, was said to be on official trip to Abuja.
