CERN Studentships in Summer 2011 at at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland

A limited number of studentships are available during the European summer period only. CERN financial support is offered to students in physics and engineering fields who are nationals of countries that are not Member States of CERN. Students will join in the day-to-day work of research teams participating in experiments at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. Attendance requires a presence of a eight weeks on site during July and August in order to follow the series of lectures and complete a research work experience.

Role Description:
In addition to the work in the experimental teams, the selected students are required to attend a series of lectures. Scientists from around the world share their knowledge about a wide range of topics in the fields of theoretical and experimental particle physics and computing.
    Students are also required to complete a report at the end of their studentship.

Eligibility Conditions:
        * You are NOT a national of a CERN Member State.
        * You are a university-level undergraduate or post-graduate student.
        * You have a good knowledge of English; knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment of receipt which contains a link. You must forward this link to your two referees so that they can upload their recommendation letter.

What We Offer

    * You will receive CHF91 per day allowance to cover the cost of accommodation and meals in the Geneva area for a single person.
    * The CERN Housing Service will assist you in finding accommodation on, or near the site of the laboratory.
    * A limited number of travel scholarships will be available.

Selection Procedure: Applications are considered by a panel of CERN experts which meets in February 2011. Only those applicants who are successful will be notified in March 2011.
