The world woke up to news that the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong, has passed on at the age of 82 – some 43 years after he made his name.

The former astronaut, captained Apollo 11 mission to the moon and famously uttered the quote moments after setting foot on the lunar surface: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
