Primary Skills:

•   Minimum of ten years experience in oil industry and an excellent working knowledge of all aspects of Reservoir Engineering including Reservoir Simulation.

•   Experience of reservoir management and the development of new fields.

Job duties:  – Should have advanced skills in analytical reservoir engineering techniques and be able to apply them to existing and new field developments. Should have experience in compositional simulation and EOR simulation techniques. Should also have experience in the use and application of Material Balance analysis. Should be able to apply the results of these studies to maximise the ultimate recovery of wells/fields.  – Should have experience with the design, positioning and operation of wells. Experience with thin oil sand overlain with gas caps is preferable. Should be able to model and recommend innovative well designs. Should be able to review well performance and determine cause of unexpected or irregular production.  – Should be well versed in reserves classifications/evaluation and have experience in taking a lead role in official reserves reporting. Should also be able to generate coherent reserves presentations and be able to communicate effectively with external bodies on the subject. Experience of the subject in Nigeria would be preferable.  – Should be well versed in decline curve analysis and it uses and limitations.  – Needs to be able to interpret production tests to confirm that wells are behaving in the manner that is planned. Should be able to assist with the regular production allocation exercise.  – Should be proficient in PBU analysis and DST design for exploration and appraisal wells. Should be able to input into the design of clean-up programs and production tests for development wells. Should direct surveillance activities and MER testing. Should be capable of providing offshore support for such operations as required.  – Should have experience with the design, interpretation and analysis of RFT/MDT programs. Should also have a practical understanding of the risks and uncertainties in this technology.  – Should have experience in the design of fluid sampling programs in conjunction with the vendors. Needs to be able to monitor third party PVT analysis, validate and approve.  – Should have experience of conducting an integrated reservoir engineering study. Should also have experience of driving the results of this type of study through to application.  – Will be heavily involved in the preparation of Field Development Plans for oil, gas and gas condensate reservoirs. Should be able to support this exercise from a Reservoir Engineering standpoint and conduct well count and UR optimisation. Needs to be able to present plans to external and government authorities  – Should have a strong understanding of petroleum economics preferably through exposure to the petroleum industry in Nigeria.  – Should have a sound understanding of geology and geostatistics and be able to apply this to modelling and analysis.  – Should be able to design core analysis/SCAL programs.  – Should be able to conduct history matching studies to validate reservoir models. Should be able to make recommendations on reservoir management strategies. Needs to critically look at reservoir management strategies and determine infill or stranded oil opportunities.  – Needs to be able to propose and supervise third party consultants conducting reservoir studies work and also interface with head office, reviewing and discussing work with them on a regular basis.  – Needs to ensure the smooth transferal of work from head office to the Opco as the projects mature to the implementation stage.  – Should support operational and production teams as required. As such should attend production morning calls. Should support drilling and completions planned sessions and be involved with post well reviews.  – Respects and implements Company's health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility.  – Participates in operational duties outside office hours.

Key performance goals:  – Apply corporate safety standards  – Contribute to achieving production and reserves targets for the asset  – Capex discipline with respect to budget and targets  – Opex discipline with respect to budget and targets

Education/Qualifications:

BS degree preferred or Diploma/Certificate in Engineering or Applied Sciences (minimum).

Experience:

Ten – fifteen years experience with an operating company or specialist service company.

Functional Skills:  – Minimum of ten years experience in oil industry and an excellent working knowledge of all aspects of Reservoir Engineering including Reservoir Simulation. Experience of reservoir management and the development of new fields.  – The ability to communicate well and get along well with other team members and functional peers, the ability to work independently within an integrated team and the willingness to seek guidance when needed are essential.  – Highly computer literacy.  – Excellent communicator.

Managerial:

Clear and effective decision making is required. Rapid response as necessity to many operational, production and drilling issues that arise.

Behavioral:

The ability to communicate well and get along well with other team members and functional peers, the ability to work independently within an integrated team and the willingness to seek guidance when needed are essential.
