Job Title: HSS&E Advisor

The Position:

We are currently looking for high calibre experienced Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Advisors for our Africa operations.

Primary responsibilities of the role (but not limited to):

•   Reporting to the HSSE Co-ordinator the HSS&E Advisor is accountable for the development, implementation and maintenance of company HSSET Standards and procedures on the rig and work sites.

•   Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with relevant Group Management System Procedures and worldwide standards.

•   Monitor adherence to the client/group standards.

•   Ensure that all accidents and incidents are properly investigated and actioned.

•   Carry out any safety training, for which qualified, as requested by management, including safety indications.

•   Attend rig site safety meetings and monitor points raised to ensure remedial action is taken where required.

•   Provide relevant information on Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Policies to employees.

•   Participate in safety promotions, campaigns, seminars and courses when required.

•   Maintain and produce health, safety and environmental statistics and records.

•   Keep up to date with all relevant Legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

•   Coach and mentor personnel in regards to company HSE & T worldwide standards.

•   Lead by example.

•   Completes daily walk rounds observing and monitoring tasks (60% of daily activity).

•   Conducts daily checks of Permit to Work.

•   Monitor and assist in the development of security systems / plans.

•   Utilises positive reinforcement when correcting unsafe behaviours also acknowledge safe behaviors.

•   Ensures SET is actively used and all personnel participating.

•   Build client relationships.

•   Completes daily assessments of high risk activities i.e. Lifting operations.

•   Assist in preparation and review of all safety documentation.

•   Propose and implement practical safety, health and environment improvement projects in liaison with HSSE Co-ordinator and line personnel.

Experience / Key Attributes:

•   Experience with an HSSET role within the Oil & Gas Sector /  or equivalent

•   Industry recognised HSE qualification i.e. NEBOSH Certificate.

•   Ability to work to high standard without excessive supervision

•   Ability to work with various levels of personnel to identify and achieve common goals

•   Ability to produce work to the required standards / timescales

•   Confidence – having the ability to STOP the job as and when required.

•   In depth knowledge of drilling operations
