MARTINS GIVEN LEVANTE GO-AHEAD BY LEAGUE BODY

Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins has been cleared by the Professional Football League (LFP) to play for his new Spanish club Levante.
The former Inter Milan and Newcastle forward had his contract cancelled by Russian club Rubin Kazan after he reportedly fell out with the coach and he signed a two-year contract with the Valencia-based La Liga club on September 14.
Martins could join Levante after the August 31 transfer deadline because he was a free agent and he arrived in Spain only on Wednesday to begin training with his new team mates. He was not part of Levante's Europa League duel against Helsingborg of Norway yesterday as he was not registered for the competition following his late arrival.
The Nigerian striker had previously played forInter Milan, Newcastle, Wolfsburg and Birmingham City before moving to Russia two seasons ago.
