JOB PURPOSE:

• Responsible for Monitoring and ensuring the optimal performance of BSS Network

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND EXPECTED END RESULTS

BSS Performance:

Activity areas will be on

• Monitor Operations and Maintenance of BSS Network elements [ Ericsson and Huawei]

• Monitor and analyze BSS KPIs on daily basis and make changes to improve QoS

• Monitor and drive the reduction/elimination of BSS active alarms in the network.

• Track Installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of BTS to ensure compliance.

• Drive the use of various BSS features for improving and optimizing the performance of the network.

• Liaise with NOC to track BSS related faults escalated to the field team.

• Responsible for any quality/KPI impacting changes introduced to the BSS network or to any to any changes made to methods, processes or procedures, whether internal or external.

• Work Cross – functionally with other departments within Networks to resolve all BSS issues

Drive Test:

• Enforce contract compliance as it relates to Drive Test.

• Ensure routine drive tests are carried out to improve the Network.

• Analyze and interpret drive test reports and track recommendations for performance improvement.

• Call for BM DT to see areas Airtel need to improve.

• Align routine BM DT accordingly with the Regulator's [NCC] schedule.

Radio Network Optimization:

• Use RF Optimization tools and procedures/test equipment [i.e. RPNO TEMS, MAPINFO, iManager/M2000, etc.] to analyze BSS Network and Optimize same.

• Recommend and track Parameter tanning for RNO.

• Ensure that the Pre and Post analysis of all Optimization activities are timely prepared.

• Quarterly audit of Radio Network Parameters to ensure conformity

Build a capable and motivated team at Airtel Africa to create a high performance team environment

• Cultivate team spirit to create healthy working environment

S Partner Governance & Compliance

• Coordinate weekly BSS Performance/Optimization Meetings with MS Partners to review Network KPIs.

• Benchmark performance of various partners to engender effective competition for continued improvement.

• Validate the accuracy and integrity of all BSS and Optimization reports received

from MS Partner (weekly/monthly/Quarterly/adhoc/etc.).

• Provide support to MS partners for troubleshooting and resolving BSS alarms [Hardware and Software]

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills: –  Bachelor of Engineering degree (communication, electronics, or related fields ) –  Sound knowledge of Mobile Network Planning, Optimization and/or O&M –  Proficiency in RF Optimization tools and procedures and test equipment [i.e. RPNO TEMS, MAPINFO, iManager/M2000, etc.] –  Hand on experience with Ericsson, Huawei BSS equipment (BTS, BSC) operations and maintenance –  Analytical, statistical and Presentation skills –  Sound Excel/Office suits –  Knowledge of performance management systems/tools –  Cognate Leadership skills IT

Relevant Experience: –  Minimum of 6 years in GSM Network performance/Optimization/Planning –  Minimum 4 Years Managerial experience –  Minimum of 7 year experience in Mobile Communication –  Minimum of 8 years' experience in ICT/Telecom
