     Yakubu Gowon Foundation (YGF) is organising a national essay competition for serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Mr. Dan Tenshak, the Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, has said.
Eligibilty
    The contest is open to all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in anypart of the country. The restriction of entriesto NYSC members is a tribute to the founding fathers of the scheme and an honor to all those who have passed throughthe scheme.
Application Deadline
    All entries must be completed and submittedon or before the 10th of October 2011
The prizes to be awarded
1st Place = N500,000.000
2nd Place = N250,000.000
3rd Place = N150,000.00
How To Apply
  Essay Topic : "Harnessing Our Diversity and Strength for National Development"
The competition is aimed at keeping the mandate of upholding worthy values and legacies of leadership in the nation.
     Mr. Dan Tenshak, CEO of the YGF foundation notes, "It would also help in the re-orientation of the writers and readers as well as foster peace, unity and selfless service to humanity in addition to providing an avenue for the writers to make suggestions for the development of the nation."(NAN)
Essay requirement :
Essay must not be less than 800 words and not more than 1500 words.
NOTE: The CEO advised interested contestants to make sure that their essay is endorsed by the head of the organisation oftheir primary assignment and state director. (NAN)

3. Bibliography (work Cited)
4. Contestants Biography Essay Selection Criteria :
In 2011, essays were judged based on:

*. Clarity of thought
*. Organization and proven topic
*. Grammar and spelling
*. Documentation Essay Submission
PLEASE NOTE: The 2012 YGF Essay Competition is yet to be published on the YGF website as at the time of publishing this article. However, it very well should be updated anytime soon.
    Submission guidelines in 2011 were as below :
Submission Guideline :
   This essay contest requests that submission be made in hard copies and electronically. All contestants should ensure that hard copies reach the address below before the deadline.                    Electronic copies are to be sent on CD or as an attachment to an email message in MS doc, RTF orPDF.
Submission Deadline :
Entries must be submitted to the address below after the endorsement of the state director of NYSC directly or through the contestant's state directorate by Monday 10th October 2011. Essay can be sent only after it has been endorsed.
